DIVECOSYS seminar in Dakar (June 2015)
Last update: 6 April 2018
The participants, from Benin, Ivory Coast, France, Mali, Senegal and Togo, presented feedback on their experiences and research results in terms of agro-ecological management of crop pests. The presentations, by some forty authors, in the form of talks or posters, covered five topics: 1/ pest incidence and phytosanitary practices; 2/ boosting regulation services; 3/ innovative crop techniques; 4/ botanical extracts and biopesticides, and 5/ strategies and feedback.
A workshop on "crop protection strategies, from biological model to territory", based on an in-depth analysis of the biological and technical systems in play (observing differently) served to reflect upon how to extrapolate individual actions to a collective scale, in other words extrapolating farmer practices on a field or farm level to supply chains, producer organizations and other networks on a territory scale.
This debate resulted in the identification of gaps in knowledge, expressed in terms of research questions or hypotheses, with a view to establishing the "seed" of a collaborative project.
